STEPtember 2024

Stepping up for CP Research

My dear friend Kate told me about this challenge—and it immediately struck a chord. I’m not one to share much about my life (except for regular updates on my 3 family doggies), but I’m going to try something new and share for a wonderful cause.

I was adopted from Morocco as a preemie and born with a mild case of cerebral palsy. (Did you know CP is the most common lifelong disability? I didn’t until I joined this challenge.) Today, my CP is mostly “invisible”—while my body is easily tired and my coordination is poor, I am able to move my body in ways that would not have been possible without the incredible care I received as a child.

I’m talking a wheel chair, a walker, and loads of PT (where my love of a heated pool formed), and customized inserts that fit my hot pink Tweety Bird Converse. The care I received shaped who I am today.

That’s why I am participating in STEPtember to raise funds for cerebral palsy research and advancements in technology to benefit people with CP. All month long, I'll be raising funds to support Cerebral Palsy Alliance Research Foundation (CPARF).

I’ll be walking each day to reach my goal of 12,000 steps per day. Join me for a walk or donate what you can. Your donation will support:

  • Research into cutting-edge physical therapy to see what works best for certain children.
  • Painless technology that makes it possible for people with CP to move in ways — and accomplish things — that they never have before.
  • Research into new chronic pain treatments and solutions for people with CP.
  • Technology that makes it easier for people with CP to live their everyday lives right now.

Thank you

- Lilli

WHY STEPTEMBER IS IMPORTANT TO ME

IN THE US, A CHILD IS DIAGNOSED WITH CEREBRAL PALSY EVERY 45 MINUTES.

I'm participating this September to fundraise to support Cerebral Palsy Alliance Research Foundation in their mission to change what's possible for people with cerebral palsy.

This STEPtember, you're making a life-changing impact for people with CP.

Will you STEP up with me for cerebral palsy?
